10 questions to ask your photogapher
1.What is your style of photography?
Every wedding photographer has a different style. It is EXTEMELY important that you love your photographers style! If you do not live their style or vibe then I would highly recommend finding a photographer you love!
2. How many weddings have you photographed?
Now, this may not be the MOST important questions to ask your photographer but it is always a good idea to know how much experience your photographer has. Any variation of this question can be asked such as " How long have you been a wedding photographer" or "How many wedding have you hot at this venue?"
3.Can you provide a portfolio of your previous work?
Not only is it important to see your photographers work but asking for a full gallery from them before booking can show you what to expect your gallery to look like. Photographers work with all different styles of couples and different venues so be sure to see a few different galleries that match the style of your wedding or elopement.
4.What is included in each package price?
Oh boy, are those hidden fees annoying and unnecessary. Vendors sometimes like to throw extra fees on at the end in the form of taxes or travel fees. Be sure when you are talking with protentional photographers ( and any other wedding vendors for that matter) you get a full price with all the extras included!
5.What kind of camera equipment do you use?
It is extremely important to know what gear your photographer works with. For example, how many camera bodies do they use, what lenses are being used during your wedding, do they shoot with on camera flash, are the comfortable with off camera flash? It is important for your photographer to also have back up equipment incase there is a malfunction with their equipment the day of your wedding.
6.How long will you hold onto my photos?
Many photographers will hold onto your photos for a period of time after your wedding. Knowing how long they will guarantee your photos be kept safe is key. Photographers sometimes will expire galleries after 6 months-1 year. But what happens to your photos when your gallery expires? For example, photographers will use multiple hard drives to store your photos or even an online cloud. The choices for this are endless but knowing is extremely important.
7.How long will it take to receive my final edited photos?
All photographers have different turn around times for delivering your photos. Once you find out when you should be expecting your photos, make sure your contract reflects these dates. Some photographers (including myself) offer an expedited turn around time, if you an extra that increases your gallery delivery date make sure the expedited turnaround dates are included in your contract, not the original dates.
8.How do you handle unexpected situations like bad weather or an emergency?
Photographers are human too! We understand that there are something that we cannot control. Covid, hurricanes, snow storms, road closures, etc. are all things that we as humans do not have any control over. Knowing what your photographers back up plans is in case of an unexpected situations is a must.

10.How will my gallery be delivered?
Photographers have their own special way of delivering your galleries, some prefer to send all of your photos to you through a USB drive and some prefer to use an online gallery delivery service. Knowing how your photos will be delivered and being clear on if there are any extra strings attached is important. Some photographers only allow for a certain number of downloads per gallery, make sure you know how many photos you be receiving and if there will be a cap on your downloads.
